Layered With Intent | A Home That Feels Collected
Lin and James approached their Middle Park renovation with a vision that was both highly considered and deeply personal. They wanted a home that felt calm, elegant, and relaxed - one that balanced heritage influence with contemporary ease, while still supporting the realities of everyday living. The result is a beautifully layered renovation where every material, profile, and finish feels connected through a clear and thoughtful design language.
At the centre of the home sits the kitchen, anchored by Polytec Sussex 2 pack Satin cabinetry in Dulux White Duck Quarter. The microprofile detailing introduces subtle character without overpowering the space, while warm timber tones from Polytec Malabar in Bottega Oak Woodmatt add depth and softness throughout. CDK Stone Bianco Carrara Marble benchtops and splashbacks bring timeless movement and understated luxury, balancing the quieter cabinetry palette with natural elegance.
Despite the home’s more compact footprint, functionality was never compromised. With no butler’s pantry to absorb clutter, the kitchen needed to work exceptionally hard while still feeling refined. Clever integration became key, with Hafele storage systems, Blum TANDEMBOX antaro drawers, ORGA-LINE container sets, and Hettich Bifold Door Systems ensuring every item has a place without interrupting the calm visual flow of the room.
Collaboration played a major role in bringing the project to life. Lin arrived with a strong understanding of her own style, and alongside Wood Wizards and Interior Designer Kirstin Sweet (Styled Haus), those ideas were carefully refined and elevated. Multiple cabinetry profiles, finishes, hardware selections, and timber tones were layered throughout the home with precision, creating variation without losing cohesion.
Lighting became another defining feature within the kitchen. Suspended dramatically within the pitched ceiling void, the Lighting Republic Orb Air Pendant Light introduces softness and sculptural presence, drawing the eye upward while adding warmth and atmosphere to the open-plan space.
Beyond the kitchen, the design language continues seamlessly into the hallway storage, wardrobes, vanities, and powder room laundry. Full-height cabinetry maximises storage throughout the terrace home, while each zone responds thoughtfully to its own purpose and proportions. The powder room and concealed laundry become a standout moment within the renovation, embracing richer texture, colour, and contrast while still maintaining connection back to the kitchen through materiality and detailing.
What makes this project so compelling is its balance. Restraint where it matters, personality where it counts, and functionality embedded quietly into every decision. The result is a home that feels deeply resolved, highly liveable, and unmistakably personal - a renovation that proves thoughtful design is never about one hero moment, but how every element works together as a whole.

“We had a really clear idea of what we wanted, but needed someone who could work with us flexibly and help turn that vision into something functional and beautifully resolved. As soon as we met Darko, Jordan and the Wood Wizards team, it just felt right. There was trust straight away. What I loved was that they were happy to collaborate. They didn’t take over, but they also weren’t hands off. They listened, did the drawings, solved the practical issues, and helped us get the functionality right. Kirstin was also wonderful to bounce ideas off, especially for those key design decisions where another perspective was invaluable. Darko was incredible throughout. Calm, patient, practical, and always solution-focused, even when the floor plan changed and things became more complicated than expected. We love the finished result. The cabinetry is so well integrated, the storage is amazing, and the whole home feels like us. It was a great experience, and we’d absolutely work with Wood Wizards again.”

TOP TIP
When working with multiple cabinetry profiles, finishes, and hardware selections throughout a home, cohesion comes from restraint, not repetition. Instead of making every room identical, focus on creating a consistent thread through undertones, materials, or proportions. That’s what gives a home depth and personality while still allowing each space to feel intentional and connected.
