Made to Measure | A Kitchen With True Character
Downsizing was never about doing less for Suzie. It was about creating a home that spoke to her artistry, her confidence, and her joy in bringing people together. From her very first conversation with the Wood Wizards team, it was clear this project would go beyond a simple kitchen renovation - it was about shaping a space that fit her, reflected her, and became an extension of who she is. And boy, did it deliver.
The transformation began with The Porcelain Factory Enviro 12 Calcutta Gold benchtops and splashbacks. Bold, expressive and instantly the star of the design. Their warm golden veining guided the cabinetry palette: a striking combination of Polytec Black Woodmatt and Polytec Copper Leaf Matt laminate. Using Copper Leaf as a backdrop for open shelving gave the room its unique flair, turning a practical feature into a statement.
A handleless approach kept the lines clean, with discreet Push Catch mechanisms overhead and Square Set finger pulls on drawers. Behind the scenes, functionality was layered in with Blum TANDEMBOX antaro drawers, ORGA-LINE container sets, and the Hafele Hailo Euro Cargo ST60 bin system, making daily recycling and waste management both simple and seamless.
The Butler’s Pantry highlighted the joinery in its most hardworking form, while the bar, anchored by a Husky bar fridge, made the space guest-ready. Even the island offered character with its open shelf, softening the composition.
Appliances from E&S delivered on both performance and cohesion. The NEFF 90cm Natural Gas Cooktop with dual flame wok burner was chosen for its power and precision, paired with a NEFF under-cupboard rangehood. Everyday use was elevated by the Armando Vicario Luzb Gooseneck Pull Out Mixer Tap and an Abey Lucia Bowl & Three Quarter Sink, both blending style with practicality.
The pull-out tap has become an unsung hero, reaching awkward corners, filling heavy pots without strain, and making clean-ups faster. It’s the kind of detail that quietly transforms how the kitchen actually works, proving that good design isn’t just about looks, but about ease of living too.
The design extended seamlessly into the living area, where cabinetry in Polytec Black Woodmatt paired with The Porcelain Factory Enviro 12 Jet Black benchtops carried the aesthetic forward. Quality Flooring timber underfoot grounded the palette, adding warmth and a natural connection across the open plan space.
Cohesion was always front of mind, with cabinetry, surfaces, and finishes thoughtfully balanced so that each zone felt distinct yet unified. Every element was selected to ensure the kitchen, pantry, and living spaces shared the same design language, creating harmony throughout the home. Subtle strip lighting played its part too, shifting the atmosphere from bright and functional to a soft, inviting ambience with the flick of a switch.
Suzie’s renovation wasn’t just about updating finishes, it was about creating a home that embodies her identity and captures the way she wants to live. With the guidance of the Wizards, each detail was deliberate, each decision purposeful. The result is a space that feels expressive, timeless, and deeply personal. A true reflection of its owner, ready to be enjoyed, shared, and cherished for many years to come.
