Calm, Considered, Confident
Where comfort meets craft…
There are some renovations that begin with a grand design. And then there are those that begin with a feeling.
For Roxanne and Jim, the journey to reimagining their Elwood home began not with blueprints or builders, but with a visit to the Wood Wizards showroom - a space they’d long known and admired. On that day, Roxanne happened to chat with Jordan, and something clicked. What she found was more than cabinetry samples and stone swatches - she found someone who listened.
From the very first conversation, Roxanne and Jim felt heard. Their vision wasn’t dismissed or redirected; it was reflected. And when plans changed - from renovating for themselves to preparing to sell - Jordan shifted with them. He understood the delicate balance between budget and style, and the importance of crafting something with broad appeal, without sacrificing personal flair.
That sense of understanding turned quickly into trust, and trust into confidence. Which, as Roxanne would later reflect, is what made this kitchen truly sing.
The style is strong with this one
Rothesay Avenue is pure Elwood charm, and Roxanne & Jim wanted their home to feel like it belonged. Soft, neutral, warm and grounded. They had a clear idea of what they were after: a white and oak kitchen, with subtle sophistication.
The design began with the Polytec Surano Profile in Boston Oak Woodmatt, a tone that instantly connected with the timber flooring and flowed into other cabinetry throughout the house. It set the scene for what became a modern take on a farmhouse kitchen, with just a whisper of Hamptons flair.
This was paired beautifully with the Polytec 2 Pack Satin Hampton profile in Blossom White for the rest of the cabinetry. The result is an elegant, soft contrast that balances the warmth of timber with a chalky, calming white - a colour that appears to shift slightly throughout the day, depending on the light.
Handleless square set finger pulls on overhead cabinets keep things sleek, while the under bench doors feature a charming mix of Kethy PM123 knobs and Touch Rhone D Handles, both in classic Matt Black.
The cohesion is real, and it’s undeniable from the moment you walk in.
Before & After

A kitchen built for living, not just looking
This was a kitchen built to function, but also to feel. Kirstin, our interior designer extraordinaire, helped tease out the broader palette of the home, weaving in flooring, walls and natural light to ensure the entire space sang in harmony.
The Porcelain Factory Enviro 12 Grigio Lassa Silk benchtops and splashbacks were a standout selection. Not only do they bring a refined texture and timeless tone, but their durability means this kitchen is ready for real life. As a material, Enviro Sintered Porcelain blends aesthetics with performance, and it’s fast becoming a favourite among clients with style and smarts in equal measure.
Speaking of smarts, Roxanne didn’t stop at surfaces. Her favourite features? The Hafele Hailo Euro Cargo ST60 bin system, a recycling dream with four tidy compartments, and the Hafele Kesseböhmer Carousel 270 corner unit, which turns wasted space into a rotating sanctuary for pots and pans.
Inside the drawers, the Blum TANDEMBOX antaro system paired with ORGA-LINE container sets ensures that every fork, spatula and cake tester has its place. No clutter. No chaos. Just calm.
*Hot Tip*
Kitchens are emotional. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by choice, ask for curated selections that work within your budget. A good designer won’t flood you with options, they’ll filter them.
From laundry to luxury dining
Perhaps the cleverest design decision was flipping function on its head. Instead of letting a large laundry dominate precious real estate, Roxanne and Jim moved it to an old bathroom. This allowed for the creation of stunning built-in banquette seating in the dining zone, a space-maximising move that feels as sophisticated as it is practical.
Clad in Polytec Boston Oak Woodmatt to echo the kitchen, the banquette flows into the cabinetry with grace. It anchors the room, adds warmth, and makes you want to linger longer. Overhead, Hafele warm strip lights cast a soft glow, inviting you to settle in with a glass of wine or morning coffee.
This decision alone redefined the layout of the home, proving that sometimes, less really is more.
Laundry that works (and wows)
Just when you thought the magic stopped at the kitchen, there’s more... With space reallocated, the new laundry lives where a former third bathroom once stood.
Compact but mighty, it carries the same design DNA as the kitchen: Polytec Flat Profile in Boston Oak Woodmatt, Blum TANDEMBOX antaro drawers, and The Porcelain Factory Enviro 12 Grigio Lassa Silk benchtops. The Hettich bi-fold door system keeps it streamlined, while Hafele warm strip lights elevate the everyday.
Function and form? Tick and tick.
*Hot Tip*
Don’t be afraid to rethink the floorplan. Sometimes moving a wall (or a whole room) unlocks flow you didn’t know was missing. A smart reconfiguration can give you more usable space, without needing more square metres.
The detail is in the dressing
When you’re planning to sell, no room should be overlooked — and this duo knew it. They were intent on extending the design continuity into every corner of the home, including the robes. These thoughtful touches don’t just complete a space — they add a sense of quality that buyers notice. It’s details like these that help a home stand out and leave a lasting impression.
Each of the three walk-in wardrobes were fitted with Polytec Flat Profile in Boston Oak Woodmatt cabinetry, complete with Blum MOVENTO drawers, Touch Rhone D Handles in Matt Black, and black-accented Hafele rails. The black edging on the overheads is a small but striking detail that lifts the entire look.
The built-in robe in white references the same Hampton profile as the kitchen and brings everything full circle – functional, refined, and effortlessly elegant.
It’s not just cabinetry. It’s calm. It’s considered. It’s confident.
Confidence to sell. Comfort to stay.
Although this renovation was ultimately to prepare the home for sale, Roxanne and Jim poured their hearts into every choice. They designed as though they were staying, and it shows. The result is a space with broad appeal, yet deeply personal touches.
As Roxanne puts it: “I didn’t need an architect, I needed Wood Wizards.”
With Jordan translating vision into form, Kirstin guiding every colour and material with grace, and a network of trusted trades making magic on site, this Rothesay Avenue home stands as a testament to how renovation should feel: seamless, cohesive, beautiful.
